The majority voted for statehood... but as long GOP controls congress, they dont have a chance because they'll lost their advantage.

Same with DC. Practically everyone there wants statehood, the license plates have "no taxation without representation" as a protest even, but Congress kills it every time it comes up.

The reason they are not a state has to do entirely with racism. Hell, they were actively sterilizing Puerto Rican women up to the 70's to try and stop them from having so many brown babies
