Yeah, it just takes giving up your only source of income and hoping your children don't get too hungry

Can't help but notice I didn't say anything about encouraging someone to leave their job. This is a pretty defeatist attitude when I was pointing out literally the opposite in that the system is obviously failing someone and they would be more receptive to movements of change. Joining a movement doesn't require or necessitate leaving a job. Let's not be silly doomers.

How does a person with 2+ jobs, kids, and zero savings survive a strike

By joining the movement? Organizing general strikes like these usually have some form of support for those who need it. Do you think these organizations don't consider these things?

The movement you're describing does not exist in the US

Now you're just talking out of your ass, because that's just factually incorrect. There are plenty of organizations that provide all kinds of support for protestors, organizers, and workers on strike as needed. These are big, well-funded organizations that regularly provide support in the form of bailouts, food assistance, security, legal assistance, first aid, medical supplies, organizational assistance, etc. There are an overwhelming number of these organizations that I made a point to not name any because you'll find so fucking many just by googling whatever political cause you can think of. While I could name them myself, I think it's more important for you to experience how easy it is to find any of these organizations and get into contact with them. This is why people on lemmy really need to just go the fuck outside instead of lamenting on the fediverse about how no one in the US is doing anything about fascism or whatever, because, HOLY SHIT, there are so fucking many people doing something about it right the fuck now.
