I read in a thread that lemmy.ca admins are reluctant to defederate from ml because ml admins might deny pull requests and refuse to offer support.
It is deeply unsettling to me that one instance can hold other instances hostage when the fediverse is specifically designed to prevent that sort of thing.
And there's no evidence of that. Lemmy.cafe defederated and the Lemmy devs still supported them via GitHub. It's unfounded.

That arguments always held little water with me. Unless someone can show examples of it happening, it seems an excuse for cowardice.
And if people can show examples of it happening, why the hell hasn't anyone forked it?
If anything, lemmy.cafe who defeated from .ml (rightly so) still gets support from the devs.
Lemmy.world won’t defederate from .ml because they’re afraid of losing the traffic from the idiots there.
Don’t ask me how I know this- but I know this.
