Because the "peace president" stuff was just self-deluding from previous campaign of baiting the left (read: everyone left of Mussolini, previously everyone left of Thatcher) into taking the moral high ground.
Innuendo Studios made the video "We go low, you go high", in his series on alt-right tactics. However this tactic is way more widespread, and doesn't just involve establishment democrats, but leftists everywhere, and similar behavior patterns happen so much on the scene, a lot of "cancel culture" actually happened due to rightists convincing leftists to "call out the hypocrites", and often try and succeed on the strawman of what leftism is.
A lot of TERFs were birthed like that too. But the whole "peace" stuff was to cede the left on imperialistic wars, that if the aggressor has some concerns, they must blame the victims for those wars, and callout the victims if they're defending themselves.
