My question with all these on the nose things is if it gives people the ability to deflect and say trump is russia/china asset because only they would do this?

No. Trump is hitting Venezuela because they are friendly to Russia and China. He wants all the oil and to not have to pay the prices that China will pay for it. When Venezuela was socialist but mostly sold usa the oil there was no problem but now that other nations are interested and the price is getting too high, so Chevron is unhappy.
