They are totally in keeping with the theme of the community, so I don’t entirely understand.

youtube is useful for music videos and how to fix your car videos

for anything else, written articles win every time. too many youtubers flap their faceholes about irrelevant stuff i couldn't care less about before getting to the damn point in order to increase their "watch duration" or some shit--that's a hard pass for me. also, seriously--has anyone EVER liked and subscribed only because the person in the video reminded them to?

“How to do xx in 2 minutes” - Video length: 10 mins

“The single reason why xx is yy” - Video length: 18 mins

The worst ones are the videos that are listing things and they don’t use chapters.

yep. i've gotten in the habit, even when i watch a tutorial of something i need to do, i automatically skip like 3 minutes ahead, and if they're still talking about their patreon or some shit, keep skipping until the actual content comes up

much easier to do with text than with someone yapping

So despite the fact that I watched every video I have posted, and felt that they made informed, salient points that I felt the community would be interested in, it’s still an automatic downvote for you?

generally many folks don't want to scroll through videos. Like the other responses stated: include a text summary of the key points from the video.

i don't downvote, i just don't click the link. people recommend me youtube videos all the damn time, and i NEVER go, because the ratio of "that was great" vs "wow i was more annoyed than anything else" is ridiculous

you like videos, that's great. what you're doing though is assuming that everyone likes videos, which, clearly, not everyone does. you don't have to understand why a thing is the way it is, just to acknowledge it. more information. OR here's a video for you

edit: i think maybe you meant to respond to this comment?
