How can I play original commercial Steam video games for free and play the Nexus mods for them 100% of the time without ever losing the ability to do so? Remember that cracked games are not original. (lemmy.ml)

You have to specify the game.

Different games are sold in different variants, and come with different modding implementations. Some, for instance, directly patch/hack executables, hence do need a very specific executable to even work. Others use APIs or scripting languages. Some have DRM free variants sold on 1st party storefronts, or GoG, but they may or may not work with the larger modding community.

It just depends. So tell us what you’re looking for.

If you’re looking for a more general “method,” there isn’t one.

What is the specific method without cracking for playing Steam videogames for free for every anti-piracy and/or modding method videogame?

I dunno.

Just as an example, with Rimworld, I am missing a DLC, so I use family sharing to get it and use it with my Ludeon, DRM free copy of Rimworld more conveniently. Mods work fine thanks to its XML modding API and the miracle that is Harmony C# patching.

Other games are more complicated. For instance, SKSE (AFAIK) uses hacks to patch some Skyrim code, and you run into trouble trying to do it on unsupported platforms.

Some Gamepass games have been problematic for me, others are perfectly moddable.

You’re not going to get a straight answer unless you specify what you want to play, as every game with a prolific modding ecosystem is quite different.
