Weve been having a huge argument about what happened to GenY, which i swear was a thing, before they extended the end of gen x and the beginning of gen y to overlap it.

Yeah, originally, there were some people using the term Gen Y, but Millennial took prominence over it... but the alphabetical framework remained, which is how we now have Gen Z / Zoomers, and Gen A / Alpha.
