OS: CachyOS GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Board: MPG B550 GAMING PLUS CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (16) @ 4.43 GHz Memory: 31.26 GiB

i try to keep it short: i have issues with some games (like the witcher 3) and often hear that its an issue with nvidia drivers etc..

So my question is: would a switch / small upgrade to a AMD Radeon 6800 be worth it?

i switched from rtx 2060 to 5700 xt just a few weeks ago, and a bunch of things run well that barely could before. i was mostly concerned with the forza horizons, they run perfectly now

however there are some issues, mplayer/mpv shows a blue screen on most output drivers, and steamvr just crashes, so there are things to figure out (suggestions are welcome)

(btw i played w3 for a bit before on nvidia, and i had no issues, just to complicate things)

I think the only sane thing i would do is to reinstall the distro... But maybe you should open a new thread? People are very nice here and I bet somebody can help you with a better solution than me :3

i have actually bought a new ssd, thinking, well, moving will be a pain in the butt, but things will be better, right?
installed pop 24, steamvr crashed, oh well, let's try 22 - steamvr still crashes
video ran fine both cases but ugh i just... can't now. so i just keep using this old install until i gather the energy to figure things out and move everything

Steamvr has corrwntly a lot of problems because the current mesa driver breaks them.

Its not your fault.

and it only effects ati drivers? i played a bit of alyx before i got the new card, and while everything else was unplayably laggy, at least they ran

Thats a Good question.

I thought you also get the error with the window manager

Didn't tried the driver downgrade so far, since it seems to much of a hassle.
