Yes, but you're forgetting the context. Obama was President. Hegseth was complaining about the bungled operations in Libya and Syria. This was a prelude to "Lock Her Up!" chants aimed at Hitlery Killington. And Hegseth was a major proponent of VA privatization at the time, operating as a lobbyist for private insurance companies, with an eye towards electing Donald Trump to further de-legitimize public sector health care.

Nothing he said was sincere or credible then, which is what put him on the fast track to becoming a FOX Newsmodel regular over the next eight years.
