Now that I've finished studies for the year I can sit back and continue my 19 years long colony in Rimworld. As we prepare to receive our 100th colonist (soon will be born) we received a pretty big mechanoid raid which we defeated without losses, now I realized how important good melee colonists are and how vulnerable to melee attacks some mechanoids are too! Later on a big pig humanoid raid tried to breach my walls but ended up getting crushed by my artillery.
We'll celebrate the arrival of our 100th colonist with a party and a parade which will display our colony's military might. Also work on a secondary colony continues. I have selected a place far from my main colony that is just a big mountain. A bunch of colonists with mining, farming, construction, cooking and medical skills were sent to build a massive underground burial ground that'll contain dozens upon dozens of sarcophagus in which dead enemies, neutrals, allies and colony animals will be buried and laid to rest. Once the work is complete a small number of colonists will stay there in rotative periods to act as gravekeepers and for general maintenance. I'll have to think about a way to deal with infestations though, that colony's wealth will skyrocket soon enough.
I plan to stick with this colony for many years, until it either corrupts itself or the urge to play version 1.6+ becomes unbearable. The performance is not very good either, 300 mods take a toll on my tps... every day at 4am, 10am, 4pm and 10pm the game freezes for a moment. For now it's tolerable though.
I had a 16-17 year old colony that is started just after oddysey came out. It was pretty sweet, with a big boxy porcupine of a gravship housing a couple royal vampires. Eventually I made a home base castle to go along with it too. Now I'm waiting for more of the vanilla expanded gravship mods to come out to play more.
Meanwhile, I've been playing monster train 2 a fair amount. It's a good one. The art and overall aesthetic are pretty goofy but the underlying game is solid. Underlegion and Lazarus are my favourites, but I still haven't cracked covenant 10.
I'll probably finish off the Hades 2 revised ending over holidays. I finished it already on the release version but the revised ending is good so far.
If we get some good snow I'll check out frost punk, but that game seems wrong to play if it's warm out.
I really want to try Odyssey out one day, I haven't bought it (I'm staying in 1.5 just because I don't want my save to break) but I intend to.., it seems Ludeon really cooked with that DLC, reception was very positive!
I do wonder if 1.6's performance updates are noticeable, do you see any difference? I understand Rimworld's main performance issues comes from heavy modding but if they improve performance somewhat that's a huge step forward.
I hope the next DLC focuses on vehicles of all kinds, from horse/muffalo/mechanoid/human driven carts to armoured vehicles. I do run the vehicles mod, and also tanks from RimThunder, it's quite OP because the AI doesn't understand they can't fire with autopistols against my Type 85-III Main Battle Tank... and they don't use vehicles of their own, plus the physics are barebones because vehicles can make 180° turns intantly lol. I do hope we get to build vehicles in the future, after all, your tribal start colony can build a gravship and a massive ship with a reactor out of sticks, stones and bones so....
It's the second greatest thing they did right after adding furries to the game.
1.6 is noticeable to me, yes. I have a pretty mid PC so it makes a difference in decade+ colonies, though I can't quantify it. I play with about 100 mods fwiw. And yes, oddysey is great, definitely the best DLC of the bunch.
