It's if the characters are the same age relative to each other. If they're classmates who are both minors, the dynamic is even.
I personally prefer the rare yuri stories that actually focus on adults, as I think the childhood romance setting is oversaturated at this point.
I read this one during the weekend and wow, I hate the MC so much.

Good manga but the twists should have ended with the easy route of dump and forget at the fourth volume.
