I want to believe, I really do, but basically every “new version of thing I loved from childhood” has been profoundly disappointing.

My guess: [bad guy] comes back because [good guy] is actually bad guy now, in a complete reversal of their entire character growth arc, and [bad thing that we took care of in the last show] is back because [history erasing lazy writing so they can just tell the same story again].

I see you have also seen [show/movie brought back after a long gap]!

probably a new enemy, other than the GOAULD, or ori, since they are pratically neutered as an enemy. or the series goes into a new unexplored galaxy which is highly possible. staying in the milky way already as a series already have been played out in sg1, no need to continue it.

also if they care about continuity, they would have to revisit SGU arc at some point too.

I'm probably one of the few people who wants an entirely new universe of Stargate.

I really loved SG-1 and Atlantis, but earth got too OP.

The magic of the series died a bit when they could travel between galaxies in literal weeks by ship. That's some unfathomably quick technological advancement to make in 10 years, where other more advanced civilisations were around for thousands of years longer and didn't manage it.

Gate mechanics makes the show, and I reckon they need to reboot it. Even if it's confirmed they're not doing that.

wish they would revisit sgu, what happened, obviously they cant continue the story since the actors are largely into other things, ming na had some sucesses like AOS,,,etc. and they all aged significantly too. hope its not the multiverse thing the other franchises have been doing, MCU ruined it for everyone. like i said, it should be a new galaxy, with occasional crossovers to the OG universes, SGU, SGA, SG1, PLEASE no origin story, they never last. or turn it into a scifi ROP.

I hope they keep Lucian alliance and drones/replicators on the sidelines. They're the weakest storylines.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

lucian alliance is one that never panned out, even compared to the ORI which they were grown from. replicators had a natural arc throughout the series, hope they dont revisit it. i assume you mean the berzerker drones in universe, they were suppose to reveal thier origins in SEASON 3 according to a show writer for the show on r/stargate a while back.

I just find replicators to be a dull enemy in general: there's so little personality to them. I suppose that's the point, but it's not my jam. It was a bit better with the human form replicators and the asurans but not much. The universe drones were worse on that front.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 weeks ago

humanizing non-humanoid enemies actually ruined things for people. plus the drones were suppose to have a backstory in season 3, which was revealed by a show writer on sgu, in an AMA on reddit. in a seperate interview, the planetbuilders were going to see more screen time.
