This makes perfect sense when you remember that voting records is what congress critters are concerned about. Anybody with a recorded No vote for the release of the Epstein file is basically dead politically post-Trump.

Mike Johnson made sure he'll have a chance at having a political future with his vote, while trying to kowtow to his Cheeto Jesus verbally at the same time.
