There are reports like that from the very beginning of the war yet Russian economy outperformed all the expectations ever since. Just look at the actual numbers, their always collapsing is actually doing quite good

Expectations set by whom? If expectations are for the bottom of the barrel worst-case scenarios that are unlikely to actually happen, it's easy to outperform them.
