Following on from the success of the Steam Deck, Valve is creating its very own ecosystem of products. The Steam Frame, Steam Machine, and Steam Controller are all set to launch in the new year. We've tried each of them and here's what you need to know about each one.

"From the Frame to the Controller to the Machine, we're a fairly small industrial design team here, and we really made sure it felt like a family of devices, even to the slightest detail," Clement Gallois, a designer at Valve, tells me during a recent visit to Valve HQ. "How it feels, the buttons, how they react… everything belongs and works together kind of seamlessly."

I can't help but think the timing is awful. Between all the shit Trump's been doing to the economy, job losses to AI, and the fact investors in AI are starting to demand return on their investments, next year's economy is shaping up to be incredibly bad. They say the main thing keeping it going even now has been the investment in AI, but that plane is running out of runway to take off.

Bad? First of all, if COVID taught us anything, it's that the worse the economy is, the more people will invest in doing things inside their house. Secondly, I was moments away from pulling the trigger on a Quest 3 until I heard the Frame rumors.

It didn't teach much of the country anything. RTO mandates have killed much of what you're talking about. And your personal finances aren't representative of the country at large.
