No ruins, probes, artifacts, or lingering tech

No Dyson spheres or interstellar beacons

No signs of past galactic empires

Would we really be able to see any of these if they weren't right in the immediate neighborhood?

Some transcend biological limitations?

By inventing self-replicating machines, perhaps? :(
