The Capitol Hill Occupied Protest barely lasted a month and mostly involved people setting up tents on two block section of Capital Hill where they could bring food to distribute to homeless people. After initially being raided by police for city ordinance violations on food distribution, organizers pushed back and forced the police into a temporary retreat. But a month later, police returned with armored vehicles, more tear gas, and something to prove. The area was fully purged of dissidents, with over 60 arrests across two days.

The only actual fire during the occupation took place on June 12, when a single out-of-towner lite a fire near the East Precinct building and walked away. Nearby neighbors immediately extinguished it.

On a total side note, I'm sure not pertinent to anything at all during the BLM protests or subsequent anti-police riots, Nitrocellulose - a common element in gunpowder, tear gas cannisters, and other propellants - is a highly flammable compound that also helps bind ingredients together.

So, the next time you see a picture of SWAT walking through a cloud of gas near a burning building or vehicle (or you spend too long thinking about what started the fires at the WACO compound), try not to dwell on that too much.
