Poling said the state fair board considered stripping him of his awards, but decided to let him keep his ribbons.

It was only removed after being on display for a week

When asked why Poling's miniature was removed, a state fair spokesperson said "entries submitted to the fair routinely reviewed throughout the event."

Im still not sure why it was removed. Im not sure what the event was even for, but it looks like a showcasing of art projects? In which case, why remove it? It has connections to profane work, but is not of itself profane. Does having connections to profane works devalue the attatched piece? Does the piece not stand on its own merits?

Have you ever talked to a Republican? They’re not reasonable people.

To be fair to Republicans - they are staunchly against porn, refuse to partake in viewing and stand against it's availability. And given that, had any Republican been in charge of this competition, they would have immediately recognized the subject and disqualified the miniaturist the moment it was submitted.
