The reason for that saying is there has been research that men will apply for a job if they think they meet about 40% of a job description, whereas a woman will usually only apply for a job if they're confident they can do 100% of the tasks listed.

And from my experience there are times when the only way to get anywhere in the job market is quantity over quality. So at times I'll just put in for things because job titles match or it feels like something I can do based on vibes. Don't be afraid to just put in for something, even if you feel like it's a stretch. Jobs take more from us than we ever give them so fuck'em
