Does Judgment have actual detective/investigation gameplay like in Ace Attorney games? Or is that just a side gimmick?
There are some investigation parts, but they are pretty light. It's enough to differentiate it from Yakuza / Like a Dragon games, but not enough to consider it a full detective / investigation game.
Have you played AI: The Somnium Files? I just finished it last month, and that is more like Ace Attorney, at least the investigation part, there is no court part in that.
I was very interested in The Somnium Files until I found that there is some type of time limit in game, which I dislike.
So, the game is divided in days, and there are multiple routes. Gameplay is you go to different places and do investigation (like Ace Attorney games) and then roughly once each day you enter "Somnium mode", this has a timelimit of 6 minutes in-game time. Each action in that can take some amount of time from 1 sec to 100 sec or more, and you also get positive / negative multipliers for it. Those are the only time-limited parts, and most of the one in first half are easy enough that I didn't fail even once.
The latter half ones are a bit tough and require some save scumming, or use of guide if you want to clear them, but I think there are only 3 or 4 of them that gave me real trouble, though it can be different for each person.
I dislike games with time limits too, and have skipped many games that have timers, but I think this one is worth a play.
