Apologies in advance if there is a better community for this question.

Just out of curiosity, how many folks around here hunt?

I ask because I don’t encounter too many people far left of center (especially in my geographic region) who hunt. Fewer still, are those who keep and train dogs for this purpose.

Not intending to start a debate, just checking the barometer around here.

too boring, but there's legitimate hunting of feral hogs and semi-legitimate hunting of deer for population management as a stopgap from e.g. killing wolves for decades. states with DNRs who actively breed deer should probably stop that.

there are probably some american leftists who subsistence hunt but i doubt they're on the forum descended from a podcast subreddit.

I know some socialist hunters here in Norway, hunting and also just guns in general have never really been a specifically right-coded sort of thing here. And yeah, none of those hunters came to socialism through the internet.

I agree. I think harvesting of deer for management of CWD is potentially legitimate as well. Also, states who manage habitat and operate hatcheries solely for the hunting of imported game (such as pheasants) should probably stop that too.

I know of precisely one in addition to myself, though, I know them in real life as well. Curious if there are others.

We see it in all sometimes. My area is covered in deer and hogs. I harvest when they present, but I don't sit in a stand up a tree in the cold. Let one come into pistol range during season and the 1911 gonna bark.
