"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say that we're tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining. We also know that when the people understand, they cannot but follow us. In any case, we, the people, have no enemies when it comes to peoples. Our only enemies are the imperialist regimes and organizations." Thomas Sankara, 1985

Yea, but you could find these kind of messages from anyone. 99% of everyone’s messages are gonna be mundane boring shit. What’s the point of posting those? Plus, aren’t most shooters just normal people with their own lives?

[–] Pieplup@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

iirc the majority of mass shooters are cishet white incel types. if not outright incels like kinda cishetw hiincel vibes if you get what i meant. I woudln't really consider those types normal people tbh.

But even if they were not “normal”, you could still find these types of messages. Maybe they had a physical journal with all the hate but online they lived behind a mask.

Like it’s one thing to say, “hey, we searched all his messages and found nothing weird,” but it means nothing to say, “hey, we found a few messages and they are very normal.” It doesn’t give us any information. Of course you’ll find some of those messages.

tbf if someone was passionate about politics they'd porbalby mention it to their friends at some point in 5 years.

Yea, but do we have every message from the last 5 years? Seems like only a select few got leaked. So I don’t think you can make any conclusions from it.

If Ken K. went through all those messages then I’ll concede, but it doesn’t seem like it.

i'm not saying he is conclusively apolitical it's just according to what i read their close friend said they weren't political and they didn't talk about politics much on discord its always possible he was a hardcore marxist or fascist but never talked about it to anyone out of fear of judgemnt or somdething.

But if they try to force this to be a political issue, despite the testimonies of his closest friends, they can use that to crack down on the left even further. Likely using ICE and the NSA.
