the big issue I have with this take is that Groypers are known to treat Helldivers 2 as a Nazi bar, and these messages confirm that he was actively playing that game. coupled with the Groyper memes that were supposedly marked on the unshot bullets, he must at least have been familiar with Groyper ideology, if not being part of the movement himself.

Him being familiar doesn't necessarily mean aligned. I'm just saying that assigning ideology with little to no evidence doesn't benefit anyone other than the media outlets that are trying to drum up outrage.

Interesting article about his Discord chats. Doesn't really speak to his beliefs, since he mostly spoke about games. I'm worried that Trump and Co aren't really worried about facts though. They've already decided this is a problem with Democrats.

I have seen literally zero evidence he was maga. It is alarming to me how fast people are latching onto that narrative. The confidence with which random strangers speak about him and his mental state is really gross.

While I wouldn’t call this evidence, it is an indication of the circles he frequented:

  1. The photo of him Slav squatting in a tracksuit.
  2. The Halloween costume with Trump’s face painted green - most likely a Pepe joke.

Both the Slav squat and Pepe are commonplace memes on 4chan and by extension, groypers.

The only evidence I have seen that may point to extreme-right beliefs would be the jokes on the bullet casings. The 'bella ciao' one could be in reference to a remix of the italian song that is popular among the "Groypers".

All we really know is the person was really into video games and internet culture.

Also, it's not just random internet strangers jumping to conclusions here. It's journalists, politicians, and government entities.
