Look around at the other people in the audience - others are holding sharpies. They probably brought their own in anticipation/hope of getting signatures. (I've done the same thing at concerts.)

We didn't see before this clip, it's possible the kid handed the player his own sharpie when asking for a signature. That would mean that when the kid is handed the sharpie at the end, it's being given back to its original owner.
