General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Tbh I dont hate this. Its already a company I trust with this information so no new info is required.

Where it gets sticky for me is that providing private info to an Internet company is not the same as flashing an id card at the store as they can keep it forever.

That and the likes of reddit (for example not singling them out) are offloading this task to companies that have no gdpr compliance.

It's more that people who don't want a credit card are screwed from this.

Indeed.

Reminds me of the Android Market ~~Play Store~~ and not being able to use PayPal back yonder and having to use a throwaway top-up, debit card if you wanted to buy apps. Ewww.

Typical UK government solution look at a problem and find the absolute worst solution possible and run with it

They're reactionaries that think their VPN to the Houses of Parliament is some magical thing that they can monetize and control.

And they can fuck off.
