  • Gal Gadot suggested that political pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel contributed to Disney’s Snow White underperforming at the box office, though she acknowledged other factors played a role.

  • The film, starring Gadot and Rachel Zegler, earned $87 million domestically compared to higher-performing Disney remakes; Zegler faced criticism for her pro-Palestine stance during promotion.

  • Gadot emphasized she enjoyed working with Zegler, said her “conscience is clean” regarding support for Israel, and expressed hope for peace and safety for all people.

Disney making live action remakes (cheaper than animation) so they don't lose ownership of the IP is the worst reason a human being has ever made a movie for.

Anything produced for that goal will be shit

Counterpoint: I've read that this is the primary reason that Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse was produced - so that Sony could keep control over the Spider-man IP - and that was a fantastic movie.

Sure, but Sony actually gave artists free reign to have fun and take risks with it. With the explicit intention of rejuvenating the IP. Unlike Disney which demand total risk aversion, formulaic and nostalgia based production, and no new creative thought whatsoever.

This is true. Sony’s Spiderman contract is one of the last ones left from when Marvel was part of a hostile takeover in the 80s. There have been other examples of this behavior over the years for the same reason.
