At this point in America, I'm willing to provide my own protection. Dealt with cops many times over the decades. They're gotten better is most ways, worse in others.

MAGA neighbor called the pigs on me for yelling Nazi insults at him and his wife, no threats. Only told the cops that no threats were exchanged and I would not speak further. The one elected to talk threatened to go get a warrant for "public mischief" or some such bullshit if I didn't tell my side of the story. Think on that a moment.

"I'm cancelling your 5th amendment rights if you don't talk. So, be reasonable?"

Told him to go for it if he felt he had a case, but I had nothing further to say.

And my immigrant wife goes out to talk to them! Fuck me, she doesn't know any better, even though I've told her again and again and again.

And here's the kicker! Three cops rolled up decked out in silver and black, 100% Hugo Boss SS uniforms. No one talks about this! When I was young, they dressed like Andy Griffin, clearly cop, non-threatening.
