The existence of the senate is already a ridiculous gerrymander. A state with less than 600,000 people (Wyoming) gets the same amount of representation as a state with almost 40,000,000 people (CA).

Can anyone with a brain make that seem fair in any way.

The same way every delegation in the UN gets a vote, even though the UN contains both China and the Vatican.

The states were intended to be states - fairly independent political entities which shared resources to maintain a military and facilitate trade.

Those states are not independent. They depend on the taxes from CA to subsidize them.
