One bandaid to chronic depression and existential anxiety, I've found, is to constantly be doing things until you collapse from exhaustion, then wake up and start again immediately. Always have a situation to deal with, be active non stop.
My thought is that people that do this have a similar thing going on, though using other people to achieve the goal of distracting from your inner turmoil is obviously bad.
That makes some sense, though I find it hard to relate since my cope for those things is usually sleep and alcohol.
Mine is no sleep but also alcohol
