One of the more interesting mushrooms that grows near me. The orange color comes from a parasitic ascomycete fungus that grows on the host mushroom. This guy is edible, but I was trail riding so I didn't harvest.

That looks great! They're almost always buried completely under leaf litter around me, must be nice to find one without digging!

The last few years I've had a ton of luck finding them on the side of trails. Last year was miraculous. No joke for about a half mile there was at least a hundred as large as this one.
