After daily driving Trinity for since forever i recently felt the urge to try something more... basic.

  • Motif Window Manger
  • Firefox with "IRIXesqe" theme
  • Xfe filemanager
  • xclock, xbiff (i am using a fetchmail -> procmail -> mutt setup)
  • Bog standard xterm

Everything is as lightweight as it gets to keep things "snappy".

A really nice and snappy desktop environment, especially for people like me who work with relatively old hardware. It preserves the spirit of the pre-Plasma KDE pretty well.

Well, i have no real metering regarding memory usage or other things but i personaly would not say that there is much of a difference in "snappiness". Trinity looks better though....
