Its a shame because they're prominent voice on lemmy. Good on the admins for not tolerating this. I don't understand the point of targeting a person you don't like on the internet just because they said something that upset you and spamming their post with downvotes. If you don't like someone block their ass and be done with it. I agree with the perspective that its harassment (and an incredibly petty ineffective form of it at that)
Dbzer0 mods temp banned me for trolling recently. I was actually taken aback because on Reddit my sarcasm would be pretty mild. Can't argue with the premise, glad our mods are trying to make Lemmy less toxic and I learned a valuable lesson actually. Just disengage and move on.
I wasn't banned for any comments, though. I was banned because, apparently, it's unlawful to downvote comments you disagree with if it's a commenter the dbzer0 admins like.

Yes, mass downvoting things for no reason is different from downvoting things you disagree with. If you go down a page and downvote every artifact there, and then illustrations, and then ruins, at some point it becomes apparent that it's not because of a very eclectic and specific aesthetic preference. I'm sorry if that's too complex for you to understand.
I mean, if you're downvoting everybody's page, and claiming that you just disagree with everything they post, then yeah, I can see why they would ban you.
Unfortunately for you, you're not exactlu sunshine and rainbows, so I can imagine people aren't exactly willing to just take you at your word.
I don't care, I am just pointing out the hypocrisy of the situation.

That's legitimate.
But as pointed out, the two situations are different - including by the account of the 'harassed' user I'm being accused of victimizing.

Following someone from community to community to downvote, things that you disagree with personally, is an abuse of the vote system, and an abuse of the community system, I think he was absolutely right in blocking you.
Let this be a lesson. Downvote people in the threads that you're participating in and in the communities you belong to, and stay out of the communities you don't.
I apologize for the crime of downvoting comments that I disagree with. I'm sure this is from a place of utter detachment, 'just pointing out the hypocrisy' of something you can no longer claim to be hypocrisy. Now it's just a generic "You deserved it", lmao.
Nah, I just read through the screenshot you posted a little more carefully and noticed how you were going from tiny communities with less than 50 users that you were not a part of and were downvoting that person's posts, which is a direct violation of the spirit of the communities and the way the voting system on Lemmy is supposed to work.
I went from thinking the admin's a little heavy-handed to thinking you earned it. 👍
