I do it frequently, but I open the egg and put its contents to teamug and microwave that. I can put multiple eggs in a single mug. This way I don't have to mess with hot shell, and I won't burn my fingers.
Isn't that just poached eggs?
I'm not as gourmet as you, I call them "eggs made in microwave"
I use that trick to make scrambled eggs. Need to add a bit of water, and for some reason, a dash of vinegar, top it with a paper towel.
Will this work with soft boiling? (I would think so but might be hard to get the timing right?)
Yes, but set the timer for a bit shorter time. I had to play a bit to find the best timing on my microwave
