Like, it is considered one of the AES but you virtually never hear anything about it. Last I checked they were busy industrialising the country but that was it.

but laos is already doing reforestation programs, they realise this is a big issue. they went up from 40% forests (of total area) in 2010 to 62% now. their target is to reach 70% again, which also was the total area of forests in the 1940s. they planted 34 million trees in 2024 alone (https://english.news.cn/20240529/da596e24c61c482d9240e481f6308fc3/c.html)

laos is basically just forest, one of the countries with the most forest area in the region, so the health of the forest is a big deal to them
