If you understand the mechanics, skip farming the whole first year and just fish. You'll end up way ahead.

Should try this one day, my usual approach was always something like:

Clear mines asap
Fish whenever else
Enough farming to complete the community center by Year 2

Due to how the game works, I'd say multiplayer favors mining while singleplayer favors fishing.

Multiplayer favors splitting chores a lot! I was usually the go to fisher in my multiplayer games because I didn't mind it. Really helped bring in cash. Biggest downside is time doesn't stop so less fish caught overall!
