I think I figured out why I'm not enjoying my new role.
The people are nerds, but not in a good way. They're the nerds that were teacher pleasing brown-nosers who would throw anyone and everyone under a bus to get an inch ahead.
There's also people who are very quick to make their problems our problems. Sound like communism to me ๐
I've also noticed that I can ignore emails and people eventually leave me along.
So that's good.
Fixed or temporary? Doesn't sound very positive. Maybe their previous supervisors expected more brown nosing? Maybe that's why they're partly a dumping ground for others problems.
I'm on fixed term, everyone seems to be full time ongoing.
My immediate boss is okay, but the overall culture seems to be kind shit.
They can suck up all they want. My works speaks for me and so far I'm doing well.
The word I use for that brand of nerd is Flog. And I've worked with the Floggiest Flog of all the Flogs several times over.
Good term. Some are definitely flogs. The rest are just lame. Not malicious or anything, just lame.
