Source for this is the BBC's Andrew Benson, so I'd consider this quote reputable.

Now on one hand if one is in physical pain that can lead to people lashing out, and his pain could explain that. On the other hand the story about his medical pain could be a cover-up of sorts for his behaviour. Hard to say.

Or he could have rebroken his hand having a tantrum, its likely weaker than normal because of his previous injury.
