The group that drafted a key blueprint for Donald Trump’s second term convened a meeting in Washington D.C. this week to consider proposals for bulldozing the European Union (EU).

The Polish investigative outlet VSquare revealed that the Heritage Foundation gathered hardline conservative groups on 11 March to hear how they would overhaul the current structures of the EU.

The “closed-door workshop” featured a debate on a new paper produced by the lobby groups MCC and Ordo Iuris entitled: “The Great Reset: Restoring Member State Sovereignty in the 21st Century”.

The lack of information combined with the blitzkreig of crappy headlines fosters an atmosphere where unified opposition is difficult at best. When the rallying focal point changes on the daily then there can be no rallying focal point. This is working as intended. Although, I don’t think they quite counted on Elon Musk in that capacity. Or maybe they did and that piece is working as intended as well. Who would think the richest man in the world could be the sacrificial lamb? But I digress.

The EU is a premade organized opposition. It’s almost too perfect. Ideal, really, if Britain hadn’t screwed up so royally with Brexit.

This too is about preventing organized opposition. It works to the same purpose. Heritage didn’t count on the EU staying so damn global, and oppositional, “on their own”. To be honest, they were probably prematurely dismissive of Europe. We’re young, as a country. They’re not. In some ways, it’s like picking a fight with a panel of 4 star generals as a sole private.

While I agree that Europe is strong, we should be careful not to make the same mistake as Democrats made twice during their elections and downplay the threat of right-wing strongmen,l and populism. They're very clearly on the rise in Europe. Everyone has to come out and vote against them. Make it very clear they're not welcome. I truly hope Europeans won't take the lazy option. But I also believe they're smart enough to go out and actually vote against evil.

Voting isn't enough. You need to shut down the foreign propaganda that's creating these movements in the first place.

Unfortunately this requires dipping into authoritarianism a bit, but I don't see the alternative. Sedition needs to be dealt with properly, and the majority of these far right movements are seditious and should be treated as such.

There's a time for authoritarianism and unity and that time is now. I want my country to outright ban social media because that's the tool they intend to use to control
