this happens in a public park.

first time this happens to me afaik. I was just stretching with black leggings and a t-shirt. I noticed him 100 yards away walking around but always looking at me. Upon making eye contact he would look away but as soon as I turned to stretching, he'd look at me.

He started slowly approaching me and at one point stood at like 15 yards from me, but still separated by a fence. At that point I decided to cut my work out short and left avoiding eye contact.

I consider myself lucky because he didn't follow me.

What scared me the most is he was bigger and taller than me.

If this ever happened to you, how did you react? How do I react next time this happens?

I'm getting sexist racist homophobic anti trans vibes here. Should I trust my gut?

If what I’m saying even remotely resembles something your caricature of the "other" might say, then the only logical conclusion, of course, is that I must be exactly like them.

Oh no! A random person on the internet thinks I'm something I'm not. How can I ever recover from this.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Oh sorry, which one out of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans was incorrect?

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk -2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

No need to apologize. I'm only amused by this.

Please, tell me more about me. It's my favourite subject.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Which one out of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans was incorrect?

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 3 weeks ago

You already said "I'll take that as a yes" and that's more than fine by me. You're free to think of me what you want. I'm not interested in trying to convince you otherwise.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

You said I thought you are something you're not, so which is it out of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans that you aren't?

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 3 weeks ago

You’re free to think of me what you want. I’m not interested in trying to convince you otherwise.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

You earlier claimed that yourself was your favourite subject, yet you're mysteriously tight lipped on the subject suddenly.

If you weren't interested in convincing me that you weren't a big right wing stereotype, you wouldn't have claimed I was wrong, so I don't buy your disinterest line.

So which out of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans were you claiming not to be? It's an easy question. Feel free to share your opinions on all four culture war issues, @Free_Opinions.

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 3 weeks ago

I'm not interested in trying to convince you otherwise.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

OK. Racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans. That's quite the full set of prejudice. Why do you think you ended up with so much hate in your heart? What led you down the rabbit hole? Was it politicians telling you that your problems were because of people who aren't like you, or influencers telling you that you would be successful and happy if you follow their plan that comes with a side helping of nastiness? Are your friends right wing too, or do you keep it secret from them in real life?

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 3 weeks ago

I cannot defend nor explain the cause for a view I don't hold.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 0 points 3 weeks ago

OK, so which out of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans is a viewpoint you don't hold?

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 0 points 3 weeks ago

I’m not interested in trying to convince you otherwise.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 0 points 3 weeks ago

And yet every so often you deny it, but always in a vague way so that no one can tell which one out of racist, sexist, homophobic and anti trans you're denying. If you're not ashamed of your opinions, you should just say what they are.

[-] Free_Opinions@feddit.uk 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

"I'm not interested in trying to convince you otherwise" is such a simple statement, yet you keep asking the same thing again and again. If this is too difficult of a concept for you to comprehend I can't possibly imagine you grasping my nuanced view on any of the subjects you mentioned. I've engaged with enough of people like you to know to pick my battles.

[-] davidagain@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Your nuanced view on racism? Your nuanced view on sexism? Your nuanced view on homophobia? Your nuanced view on being anti trans. Gotcha. Loud and clear.
