Yes. Clogged with tailgating trucks, aggressive drivers, people who donβt know indicators exist, debris on the road, short on ramps, etc. The roads north and west of Melbourne are the Mad Max zones. Source: commuted on these roads for many years, glad I donβt have to do it any more.
They are also quite terrifying when you don't drive them very often - there are a bunch of intersections that are pretty much impossible to navigate if you are not familiar with them. You get in the wrong lane and end up on a freeway going in completely the wrong direction.
