This piece gave me a better idea of how this interview went and how it was received. Other posts about this had commenters saying it wasn't that bad but most never quoted the entire ABC journalist's question.

It's pretty horrendous for both Trump and the NABJ. To the latter, the author or the article Mr. Roeback makes a very good point that this will damage the ability for the venue to attract high level guests in the future as most campaigns will probably see it as a risk that doesn't outweigh the benefits. In a bid to garner national attention they shot themselves in the foot inviting trump.

I think it's pretty easy to not take a shit on yourself the way he did.

The questioning was direct and contentious but a better politician could have handled it. British politicians deal with more aggressive questioning every time they go on the radio.
