Plasma 6 Bugs

If you encounter a bug, proceed to https://bugs.kde.org, check whether it has been reported.

If it hasn't, report it yourself.

PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY BEFORE POSTING HERE.

Developers do not look for reports on social media, so they will not see it and all it does is clutter up the feed.

I have recently bought this Acer monitor which is a matte finish IPS screen with resolution of 1920x1080 and diagonal size of 23.8.

I generally prefer small fonts on screen to get maximum information density. But after getting this monitor, I feel that the fonts are not clear, blurry or pixelated.

What KDE System Settings > Appearance > Fonts should I use to get crisp fonts at low sizes such as 10 or 8? What fonts are good at low sizes for display?

Questions: Should I force the DPI to 96 as I used to do on my previous monitors? Some solutions are suggesting that I increase the DPI and lower font size. How does that work?

Note: I do not like scaling and making things bigger than they are already, I am trying to shrink the size rather.

My primary OS is PCLinuxOS but I also use Neon, Fedora KDE.

Spotted in episode 108 ("Shrink Wrap"). I think it's KDE 2, judging by the icon. I don't recognise any of the software, though.

Unfortunately, this particular laptop was owned by Dr. Meridian, a manipulative psychiatrist who caused the suicides of a number of women in his care. Fortunately, Dexter deals with him good and proper...

How can I make KDE respect my choices for download location
I use different browsers to do different tasks, but downloading a file/image goes where ever location I used last, ignoring what I set my browsers download location to be

I whole heartedly appreciate KDE devs for thinking of and implementing the Similar to this feature for widgets.

My favorite distro now defaults to Icons Only Taskbar which I hate because it does not let me see which window is running which tab/directory etc. Now all I have to do is right click on the widget and select similar to this option. It automagically changes into the normal task manager.

Thank you so much for this.

It was once said over the grapevine that: "Our C++ API documentation has some issues, our QML API documentation has a lot of issues."

And it was true, but that is to change soon! As you might know, there is an ongoing effort to port our documentation from Doxygen to QDoc, and you can help with that.

This is a task that has been adopted by the Streamlined Application Development Experience championed by Nicolas Fella and Nate Graham as part of the KDE Goals initiative.

We would like to invite you to join our porting sprint effort to finish this task. On November 14th at 1PM UTC, we'll be hanging out in the Matrix room working on this. Hope to see you there.

Some prerequisites:

  • Ability to use a terminal
  • Extra disk space (30GB minimum)
  • Some familiarity with APIs

Check out the instructions prepared by Thiago Sueto on how to get started porting a project to QDoc.

I have the latest kubuntu 24.10 and my TV is reporting that it is being sent a HDR10 signal.

Is there a way to manually switch it to connect using Dolby Vision?

My Apple TV 4k connects using Dolby Vision.

(I want to play Dolby Vision files without tone mapping, since my TV supports DV.)

So recently, when I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3, which involves a lot of pressing alt, a system sound keeps playing every once in a while. I think it has something to do with alt+wasd or alt+mouse buttons or something, but I can't figure out what it is.

Anyone know what this could be?

Since I discovered the existence of global menu on Plasma, I've been searching for a version of Firefox that supports it. While I've found patches for it, I don't know if it still works and have the patience to compile it.

Kudos if it's in the AUR pre-compiled.

If you don't know what global menu is it just moves the toolbar to any panel you want like in the attachment.

EDIT: Compiled firefox-globalmenu from the AUR, turns out it doesn't work with wayland :(

I have a big presentation coming up, and this is the first time using Linux and Libreoffice for this. I've been using KDE Connect for a long time for many different use cases, but never tested the slideshow remote before now. It works as expected on KDE 6 with Wayland, except for the pointer.

The pointer will only show on my laptop screen, and not on my external monitor. This is naturally where I will show the presentation, so this is where I would want the pointer to show. This is the case regardless of which display is set to be the primary monitor. Screen are set to "Unify outputs".

I found this post explaining the exact same issue from 2020, but there was never a solution to this.

Has anyone run into the same issue and know of a way to get this working?

Starting with Fedora 42 the KDE Edition will be at the same level as the Fedora Workstation Edition that uses GNOME.
