LIVING CITY
Combat AI
- Multiple fixes and improvements to NPC melee and ranged combat AI and reactions, including taking cover, positioning, reloading, equipping weapons, dodging, blocking and many others.
- Multiple improvements to dismemberment triggers, hit reactions and death animations, adding greater impact to ranged and melee combat.
- Enemies are now much better at blocking and evading (Kerenzikov) attacks. The heavier the weapon, the easier it is to hit. The opposite is true for evading.
- Further diversification of melee and ranged combat behaviors for different factions: reckless, aggressive, balanced, defensive and cautious.
- Followers now contribute more in combat but can be defeated and temporarily disabled if they receive enough punishment.
- Numerous fixes and balance changes to netrunner combat.
Crowd Improvements
- Aggressive crowd behavior: certain NPC archetypes can and will enter combat with the player when provoked by aiming, shooting or fighting. Due to some technical challenges, this change is not available on the previous generation of consoles.
- Time skips affect the state of NPCs, as well as reset the state of the devices, environments and certain scenes.
- Improved crowd reactions, pathfinding and despawning.
Drive Model
- Introducing our all new Burn Out Mode! Hold Gas + Brake to engage, steer to rotate. The old system only allowed rotating on the spot, now try modulating the inputs to see what you can do! Try brake stands, donuts, drifts or heat up the tires to do a drag-race style launch with a High Grip boost. The system now works at higher speeds, so you can hit the brake with gas applied on corner entry to cause oversteer on most cars. Keyboard users can optionally use new Secondary bindings on arrow keys (some keyboards ignore the third key press when just using WASD), but gamepads allow the most control of the system (as gamepads in general provide the driving experience preferred by a vast majority of players).
- New Braking system produces consistent performance, front to rear, across all speeds. ABS simulation added. All vehicles brakes have been tuned to the new model.
- Engine simulation improved. Clutch simulation added. These changes improve resistance forces from the engine when shifting, helping to remove unwanted wheel spin events.
- Gearbox simulation improved. Much improved downshifting behavior. Transmission now realistically downshifts and has smarter shift logic to keep the engine in its sweet spot. Forward <-> Reverse shifting has been totally redone, allowing for J-Turns / Rockfords.
- Motorcycles improved. All of the above improvements help to make them more stable. Additionally, steering model improvements have been added, and they have been retuned.
- Tune improvements to various cars. Quadra Type-66 (all models, especially Avenger), Mizutani Shion (especially MZ2), Herrera Outlaw (major pass) & base MaiMai all had steering improvements implemented and more.
- Added adjustments to first-person perspective to all vehicles that needed it. In addition, Nomad vehicles with CrystalDome technology now digitally omit objects obscuring view.
Vehicle Traffic
- Visual improvement to traffic movement: turning and suspension.
- Panic reaction to danger: traffic now has the ability to drive away in panic from danger. NPC passengers can now die from car crashes.
- Reactions to fender benders: vehicles now have a wider range of reactions to being bumped into, and will recover and return to traffic more smoothly.
GAMEPLAY
Balance
- Various changes related to the economy, including increased rewards from jobs and Open World activities and decreased prices for vehicles and cyberware.
- Rebalanced and improved functionality of clothing mods. Adjusted the amount of modification slots available on clothing items. Categorized the mods to fit only specific clothing items. As a result, all equipped mods were moved back to your inventory. Go to the Inventory screen to re-equip them in accordance with the new rules.
- The "Easy" game difficulty is now moderately more challenging.
- Introduced 2 new stats replacing Evasion: Mitigation Chance and Mitigation Strength. Mitigation Chance determines how often the player has a chance to reduce incoming damage. Mitigation Strength determines the percentage by which damage is reduced (50% by default).
- Components that used to increase Evasion now affect Mitigation. For example: the Reflexes attribute, perks such as Mongoose, Vanishing Point, Human Shield, some clothing mods and cyberware, and more.
- Rebalanced Damage Over Time [...]

Welcome to another special report by N54 News, bringing the latest from Night City to every Night Citizen stranded away from home! Our on-the-ground reporters have the inside scoop on some of the changes happening in Night City. Though they’re not the biggest ones and there’ll be more to come (as soon as more documents get declassified), we’re excited to give you a sneak peek at what’s coming.
I’m your host, Gillean Jordan, and here’s what’s new in Night City:
“Kind regards, fixers of Night City”
Earlier this morning Thorton Ltd. announced an update to their GPS navigation technology. Other manufacturers, including the high-end Rayfield, affordable Makigai, motorcycle company Yaiba, and more, soon followed suit.
*What's new in Night City [Patch 1.3] #1*
All these companies working in perfect synchronization is unheard of, so we decided to do some digging. Our sources revealed the real reason for the GPS update — at the start of the year every company selling vehicles in North California received an open letter signed by all the biggest fixers of Night City, including The Afterlife’s Rogue Amendiares, Heywood’s Sebastian “Padre” Ibarra, and Pacifica’s mysterious Mr. Hands.
Unfortunately, our reporters were “kindly” asked to leave The Afterlife before they could interview Ms. Amendiares, but we did managed to obtain a comment from another local fixer:
“So you know, I hire mercs to do other people’s dirty work, right? Lotta these gigs are very time-sensitive. You’re late, you don’t get paid. And lately we’ve had a lot of… well, let’s call ‘em “refunds.” Mercs crash into buildings and die before finishing the job, or get lost in Night City, miss a turn and end up in Badlands instead of Corpo Plaza. It’s a freaking nightmare and it’s bad for biz!” — Muamar "El Capitán" Reyes from Santo Domingo.
The fixers blame faulty navigation systems for compromising their operations, and therefore decided to issue an open letter to vehicle manufacturers. The question remains — why did the companies agree?
“At first we didn’t want to give into these criminals' demands, but that changed after an internal audit. It confirmed that our own shipments suffer from the same issues, often arriving late or becoming lost entirely. In the end we decided it was in our best interest to provide the navigation update they were asking for.” — anonymous senior Quadra employee.
Is it a change for the better? Let’s see what our expert in the studio has to add:
“With the new minimap system software update you are able to see more and navigate better.
Drive fast, drive safe.” — Andrzej, Programmer, CD PROJEKT RED
No more clouded judgement in Clouds
After the recent storm in the establishment and changes in management, Clouds announced improvements in the Matching Procedure. Our correspondent, Bes Isis, decided to find out why.

After the recent storm in the establishment and changes in management, Clouds announced improvements in the Matching Procedure. Our correspondent, Bes Isis, decided to find out why.
*What's new in Night City [Patch 1.3] #2*
Thank you, Gillean! Although the owners claim that the situation was never beyond their control, it’s clear that Clouds has undergone a major crisis after an incident involving one of their dolls. Clouds’ management avoids the topic and refuses to provide any details:
“There was a minor incident involving a former employee, but I can assure you that it doesn’t affect our services in any way. You can still expect unforgettable experiences and premium treatment.” — Anjelica Milioti, Senior VIP Services Representative
However, it seems that the incident may have forced the introduction of additional precautions ensuring customer satisfaction. I’m currently at the reception, where clients get analysed by Clouds’ algorithm. How exactly does it work and what changes are planned?
“Our dollhouse uses a highly advanced algorithm that perfectly matches our clients’ expectations to our wide selection of dolls. Clouds always knows. Your deepest desire — we find it. We’re currently testing an update that will allow customers to make a more informed decision during the final stage of the Matching Procedure when they select one of the compatible dolls.” — Cheri Nowlin, Receptionist
As you can see, Clouds is adapting their supposedly infallible procedure. Perhaps Clouds doesn’t always know? This was Bes Isis, reporting live from Westbrook — and now back to our expert in the studio:
"It was one of my first tasks when I moved to this project and I was digging into code for a long time because I wanted to understand our UI videos system, and at the end I realised that the problem is in video setup. Value for video time was shorter than the video sequence. This way, players will better understand the decision they are making in this story sequence." — Natalia, UI Programmer, CD PROJEKT RED
“Swiss army” mercs
It’s obvious that Night City changes every body, but judging by the record numbers of personal coaches registering their offices citywide, it would seem that mental adjustments are becoming just as popular as new implants.
*What's new in Night City [Patch 1.3] #3*
As usual, mercs are pioneers in terms of honing and modifying their skillsets. In pursuit of versatility, they are willing to spend a small fortune to ensure they have everything they need to deal with the gig at hand.
This new trend clearly impacted the market as demand for the once-popular Tabula e-Rasa shards plummeted in favor of hiring personal coaches. Investors are withdrawing funding to seek other investing opportunities while the shard creators are considering legal action against personal coaches.
Ripperdocs seem largely unaffected by the news. Even though this market shift negatively affects their bottom line, they claim that they never considered this an important part of their revenue and personal coaching will not make cyberware obsolete in the long run.
“I’ve been dealing with mercs for a long time now. They’re perfect customers who always know what they want and never complain about the price. I’m actually happy to see this trend of taking care of one's own body. As you can see, I’m not a cyberware user myself and I always make a point to remind my clients that as much as implants are useful time- and lifesavers, personal development is much more important.” — Robert “Dr. Chrome” Rainwater, Ripperdoc.
Even though personal coaching cannot alter a person completely and mercenaries still have to carefully plan the development of their attributes, Fixers are delighted to see that hiring people with appropriate perks is now easier than ever. Here’s what one of our experts thinks about the situation: ...
Hack Successful
Dataminers have revealed new information about the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC and expansions. The information includes details about new free quests for the game, as well as a potential setup for the first major paid Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.
What do we know about Cyberpunk 2077 DLC from this datamine?
The datamine comes courtesy of Reddit user Saint-Pirate. In their post, the user details a method by which interested parties can check out this info for themselves. TechRaptor has delved into some of the code for Cyberpunk 2077 and verified the information provided in the post. According to the datamine, the free Cyberpunk 2077 DLC will include four new quests, taking place across three of Cyberpunk 2077's zones. There are also several other free DLC packs with intriguing codenames like "monster", "mirror", and "mfinish", as well as more obvious ones like "ngplus" and "jackets".
The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC will take you to three familiar locations and give you new quests to complete.
The datamined Cyberpunk 2077 DLC quests currently have the codenames "kab01", "arr06", "arr12", and "jpn09", so you'll be able to take on new quests in Kabuki, Arroyo, and Japantown. They'll all be given to you by each area's Fixer: Regina Jones, Muamar Reyes, and Wakako Okada. We don't have too much info about these quests yet - just a small snippet of text that says the quests should "include street name and some other details that may channel players' focus on this content". It is likely that the free DLC packs were originally intended for early 2021, but the CD Projekt Red data breach and the restoration of Cyberpunk 2077 to the PlayStation Store caused a delay.
What will each of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC packs offer?
By looking at the names for some of the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC packs, we can pretty accurately determine what they're likely to offer. Some of them are a bit more mystifying, but some are clear-cut. Here are all of the major DLC packs contained within the datamine and what we think they're likely to contain.
- dlc1_swp: "WP" means "weapon pack", and there's one for each type of weapon. In this case, "Smart Weapon Pack"
- dlc2_jposes: we're not sure about this one
- dlc3_kab01: this one will be a quest set in the Kabuki area
- dlc4_quartz: this one is anyone's guess
- dlc5_jackets: this will almost certainly be new jackets for V - they could be aesthetic items or actual gear
- dlc6_apart: either a new apartment for V or customization options for the existing apartment
- dlc7_pwp: Power Weapon Pack
- dlc8_mirror: this could be the ability to completely overhaul V's in-game appearance
- dlc9_arr06: a quest set in the Arroyo area
- dlc10_monster: perhaps a new enemy type? Cyberpunk 2077 is fairly low on non-human or robot enemies, so this could be a new organic enemy
- dlc11_jlook: we're not sure about this one
- dlc12_mfinish: again, this one's a little up in the air, but a possibility could be finisher animation or moves
- dlc13_twp: Thermal Weapon Pack
- dlc14_arr12: the second of two Arroyo-based quests
- dlc15_ngplus: looks like that Cyberpunk 2077 New Game Plus mode is finally on its way
- dlc16_jpn06: a quest set in the Japantown area
- dlc17_bwp: Blunt Weapon Pack
What information is in the datamine about upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansions?
In addition to info about upcoming free quests, Saint-Pirate also discovered information about the first of two major planned Cyberpunk 2077 expansions. Unlike the aforementioned quests, these won't be free; they'll be paid content and they will be significantly longer than the free offerings. The dataminer says the first expansion will expand the Pacifica area and add a brand new combat zone for players to navigate, as well as bringing in new quests to complete and locations to explore. According to the datamine, work on the first expansion is underway, and players will be able to get their hands on it in early 2022.
The first major Cyberpunk 2077 expansion will reportedly expand Pacifica and add lots of new content for V to check out.
One particular quest the datamine points to - and a quest TechRaptor was able to verify - is a Street Story revolving around Anthony Anderson, a "recidivist and doctor" located within the new Combat Zone. Anderson is the keeper of Newcomers' Haven, a refuge for new arrivals in the game's new Combat Zone. In the Street Story, Anderson is taken hostage by Scavs, and it's up to V to rescue him. The quest will take V to a warehouse complex, task players with mowing down Scavs, and bring V face-to-face with a mysterious figure called "Wagner". It looks like you'll be able to defuse a bomb, too, perhaps one that's intended to wipe out the Combat Zone. We'll have to wait for more official info on this.
You can check out all the info in the datamine yourself if you'd like; all you need to do is download a mod for Cyberpunk 2077 called CP77 Tools, then follow Saint-Pirate's instructions in the original Reddit post. Much of the information is presented in a fairly garbled fashion, mostly because it wasn't intended for players to see, but it's fairly easy to decode if you know where to look. We'll have to wait for more info about upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 DLC and expansions, but until then, you can grab the game on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. It's also playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S through backwards compatibility.
