Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.

i absolutely love when you post receipts for how much engagement her shit actually gets. the closer we look, the more clear it becomes that this whole thing is a house of cards. there is literally more engagement on reddit than there is on some of her content. absolutely love to see it.
Anytime she can't control the numbers (by buying views, likes), her engagement is trash. Once in a blue moon, when she's naked or exploiting her youngest, she goes viral. Other than that, it's all lies. She knows her entire career is built on lies.

Ya, that’s exactly what I noticed looking at the numbers on her insta posts. The only posts with engagement that would qualify her as a successful influencer are the ones that involve her naked body and/or her kid. I feel very sad for her children.

I guess no one likes her celebrity interviews, podcast, red-carpet looks, or sponsored content. Look how few comments she has. For an account with 2.5 million followers, this doesn't make sense.

In an attempt to look "active" and "one up" the actor she recently interviewed, Sarah Nicole Landry, posted a video of herself canoeing on her IG Stories today. The video is from 2021. During the heart of the pandemic. She was postpartum.
While many of us struggled with our appearance at that time. She was posting perfect curated photos of herself on her Instagram main feed and stories. At the same time, she spoke about authenticity and said she doesn't use face-altering filters or Photoshop. She raised the bar of what we should look like. What a new mom should look like. It was all fake.
Below are screenshots from the video of #thebirdspapay canoeing in 2021, compared with some of her posts from 2021. She looks very different. Sarah Nicole Landry will claim lenses, angles, makeup, lighting, or she may say I wasn't posing in the canoe. It's all lies.
Look at her face shape, her neck size, and her eye size. Her eyes are super hooded in the canoe video. The craziest part is that there is STILL a very obvious filter on the canoe video. The filter clicks on as she approaches the camera and glitches. The filter then raises her brows slightly.
Sarah has always edited and filtered, and she has also had a lot of work done on her face. Without a doubt, she's had an eyelift. She is the most inauthentic person ever.
I'm also laughing at her desperate attempt to look sporty. Is she trying to appeal to her new lover, a female hockey player. I wonder if "homewrecker" will be in Sarah's bio soon.

So she posts for earth day yet at the same time posts showing her consumer over consumption . Consumer overconsumption is the excessive, unsustainable purchase and use of goods, exceeding what is necessary or sustainable for the planet, driven by consumerism, marketing, and social pressure. It accelerates climate change, drives environmental degradation, and often causes lower life satisfaction and anxiety.
You can’t even make this stuff up she’s a total idiot. Keep showing all the useless things people send you in the mail for marketing and contradicting yourself with earth day posts.
