Disabilities.
If you see an electric version of something, most likely it was originally designed for someone who has limited mobility. Sure it can be "fun" or "part of the experience" to hand pepper grind something, but if you only have one working hand, an electric grinder is better than pre-ground. An electric can opener is better than not being able to open a can.
Yes, some of them are used by people who could do otherwise, but they're also helping keep availability and price lower for people who need it.
Also, some folks just don't enjoy the sensory experience of cooking, and just want the easiest way to do it right.
