So what happens if there duplicate communities? Like I see there is a LOTRO community on Lemmy but it and and the mod for it seem to be pretty in active. Can I make a lotro community here? Or is there a way to become the mod of the lemmy instance?

MODERATORS
You can make a community here in that scenario. But in order to moderate that community on lemmy you would have to ask the admins of the particular instance that its based on to appoint you a moderator there under a locally made profile.
Note that piefed.social has a delay for new accounts to make communities though. Just one day.
Alright thank you for the quick response. And a short delay is more than reasonable. I'll probably make sure I'm coming relatively regularly before making a possibly dead community.
