I think China is first or second for nearly every country.

[–] LibertyLizard@quokk.au 4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Should we excuse the US by the same logic then?

The US is also a major economy that trades with every country in a substantial way. So do you find its trade with Israel acceptable, as I thought you were implying about China?

What else do you want to know? I explained as clearly as I can.

I would like you to know that I downvoted you because this comment is a bullshit way to have a discussion. I don't disagree with your argument persay, but you come off as a dickhead that thinks you're hot shit peanuts. So get fucked.

Cool story. I have no idea why you are reacting this way. If you wanted to give me feedback so I behave better this is useless.

Commenter literally posted the same non-reply twice. I was trying to be as polite as possible but what else can I even say?

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I just wanted to point out that your "polite as possible" comes off as "asshole". I wanted you to know because from over here it's pretty obvious you've got your head up your ass and I expect this is a theme in your life.

[–] LibertyLizard@quokk.au 2 points 2 months ago

OK well given that I was just calmly asking for clarification after an extremely vague non-reply, I think you're just a belligerent person who has trouble reading tone online and your opinion has no validity. Especially since you've now twice declined to explain anything about why you feel the way you do.

I don't think they were excusing China. You might be thinking of a .ml instance?

[–] LibertyLizard@quokk.au 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Maybe not, but I don't see another interpretation. There's China apologia everywhere on the threadiverse.

If one was moral or principled, certainly not. If one was a campist, fair is fair I suppose.

[–] LibertyLizard@quokk.au 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

My personal view is campism is a stage 4 terminal tumor on leftist thought. So I'll stick with no in both cases. I support BDS.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Agreed. I think that's the point of the meme. Not justification, but pointing out how much of the criticism is unfortunately hollow.

The Soviet Union was also the first country to recognize Israel and helped arm the Nakba.

[–] Cube6392@beehaw.org 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

the failure of campist based leftist infighting is that no nation represents the best interests of the working class. the global north shouldn't be thought in terms of the empires that compose it but instead in terms of a transnational oligarchy that uses national identity as a distraction from class war

[–] swab148@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago

That's going straight into my vernacular!

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

That sounds accurate for the here and now for sure, the rich, investors, have no loyalty to any western country, not the ones that undergird and protect their wealth, ahem, and not the rest. Patriotism is for the sheep. As defined by them. True patriots are the left, at least in the US, defending the constitution.
