Why is the best in red and worst in green? I never understood this rating scheme's color choices.
It's because the meme format comes from Japan. Red is a lucky color, and S is the highest grade you can get there. It's similar to how they associate white with funerals, so brides wear red for luck instead.

idk, im used to it now. but when tierlists first got popular i thought S was the worst
Itβs not suppose to be. Typically S Tier would be considered the highest ranking, the colours are certainly throwing it off.
I give this tier list an S for not including the only distro that deserves its own tier below F:
