After the report, which was written by Michael Prescott, a former external adviser to the BBCโ€™s editorial standards committee, was leaked, BBC chairman Samir Shah apologised on behalf of the BBC over an โ€œerror of judgmentโ€ and accepted the editing of the 2024 documentary gave โ€œthe impression of a direct call for violent actionโ€.

It gave that impression because it was a direct call for violent action, as evidenced by the violent action that immediately followed it.

If it were so clear, why did the director feel the need to splice together two sentences almost an hour apart?

[โ€“] njm1314@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

How can you not splice together sentences when Trump just mid-sentence goes on weird rambling tangents? Only to eventually come back to the point 20 minutes later? I'm not saying I agree with what they did precisely, however I don't know what anyone's supposed to do from an editing standpoint when we are talking about a trump speech.

He splices his own rambling thoughts together incoherently. He should sue himself.

[โ€“] echo@lemmings.world 25 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Who the fuck doesn't he sue?

[โ€“] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I'd see it as a confirmation of character. You're obviously doing something right if he hates you. Just look at whom he likes!

Depends if you consider raping someone suing them I guess.

Flashback to the interview where she shows her childhood bedroom. Ugh shiver

Mango Mussolini attempts to silence those he disagrees with.

What's the issue now with BBC? I thought he liked Bubba's Big Cock?

[โ€“] 9point6@lemmy.world 24 points 5 months ago (1 children)

They broadcasted current events during a current events show

It's no wonder Trump's discombobulated by a free press doing their job. He's literally never encountered that before.

[โ€“] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 5 months ago

he always had fox, newsmax and OAN communicating to the masses.

Man, that word... I didn't know it, but it scares me a bit. I think it makes fun of my attempts to guess how to pronounce it.

Neat!

[โ€“] fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk 2 points 5 months ago (2 children)

If you mean discombobulated, it's roughly like Disk-um-bob-you-late-id.

[โ€“] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Sadly, I think Bob is already taken for loads of other words.

[โ€“] absGeekNZ@lemmy.nz 1 points 5 months ago

dis-com-bob-u-lated

I hope they counter sue and fleece him for libel, trepidation, conspiracy, piracy, jealousy, Damacy ; just any damn thing. If he can pull it out his ass so can the BBC.

[โ€“] rmuk@feddit.uk 13 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Right, so that humiliating, grovelling apology they gave didn't work? Wow, it turns out that appeasement isn't all that. Who knew?

[โ€“] Anonymaus@feddit.org 2 points 5 months ago

Iโ€™m getting a weird feeling of dรฉjร  vu.

Careful Pedonald, UK has loserpays laws. But of course, the losers are the US taxpayers.

[โ€“] nao@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 months ago

"If we win, they pay. If they win, we don't pay." Maybe that's the idea?

[โ€“] CircaV@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 months ago

So? Heโ€™s a vexatious litigant.

[โ€“] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

UK has loser pays laws and the bar to argue a suit in court is much higher. Then there is the fictitious number associated with this claim.

Lastly, his solicitors could face disbarment for vexatious litigation. The rest of the world does not have the civil court system like the US.

When the news doesn't report accurately and factually here in America, there are consequences. We hold our media to high journalistic standards of integrity.
